Welcome to the Web Site for the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter in Yakima, WA. We hope you will find this site informative and useful. Our chapter is now over 60 members strong. Our members have projects as varied as a Lancair 4P, a restored Taylorcraft BC-12D and an Ison Tandem Airbike.

In addition to a long aviation history, Yakima also boosts an active, viable Aircraft factory, CubCrafters. CubCrafters generously provides technical support for Chapter 206. Some of Yakima's aviation heritage is preserved at The McAllister Museum of Aviation.

Our chapters primary focus is to serve as an educational resource for those who are interested in building a homebuilt aircraft or restoring an antique aircraft. We emphasize construction, restoration and design techniques that produce a safe aircraft. Our chapter also promotes craftsmanship; often a member project is presented at our monthly meetings. Although there are a great many resources on the internet, there is nothing like having someone who has built a similiar project look at your project. Our members also volunteer their time and aircraft for the EAA Young Eagles Program where children ages 8 to 18 who are interested in aviation related careers are taken on an introductory flight.

We share many common interests with the Yakima Chapter of the Washington Pilots Association and participate with the WPA in advocating general aviation and aviation safety.

For your convenience we have a number of useful links to assist in flight planning. These links can generate legal NACO approach and departure plates for YKM. We have started a new Web Page that shows local grass landing strips. Many of the photos were contributed by Tom McMahon and we post more photos as they are submitted.

Chapters Bylaws

Rapid growth by the Chapter and regulatory changes from 2006 have necessitated an overhaul of the chapter's organizational structure. Jim Keene and Steve Sundquist have invested an enormous amount of time drafting new bylaws that bring us in line with EAA National guide lines and the 2006 tax code revisions. The chapter owes him a huge debt of gratitude. A task of this magnitude usually requires legal time at $200/hour and this represents well over 40 hours of work. After review by the board of trustees, copies will be available here on the web site for member review. We hope to have a finalized copy available for a membership vote of approval in the upcoming months "
